經典篇 / Scripture 濟公活佛慈悲囑語 Holy Teacher Ji-Gong Living Buddha’s merciful teaching
You now understand that life is filled with suffering, and you don’t want your
loved ones to remain drowning in the sea of suffering. So you must “relieve suffering
and bring joy”.
While dealing with everything, we shouldn’t think only of ourselves. Shared joy is
far better than solitary joy. Always consider others. On the surface, it may seem like
you are making sacrifices, but in reality, you are gaining. Helping others is uplifting
yourself. So you must “sacrifice yourself for the sake of others”.
Do not place yourself at the center of everything. Eliminate the ego. Step into
society and bring happiness to those around you. That is how you “bring blessings to
the world”.
These points may sound simple, and in practice they are not too difficult. It all
depends on the heart with which you carry them out. Let all living beings in this world
“move toward the light”. Let all souls in this Saha World dwell in peace, safety, and
harmony—in a lotus land of serenity, unity and dreams come true. This is “the heartfelt
vow and compassionate wish” of your Holy Teacher, of all the saints and sages, and it’s
yours too.
If your heart can constantly embrace the heartfelt vow and compassionate wish,
you are already a living bodhisattva in this world—for you are bringing light and
harmony for the people around you. In this spirit of compassionate aspiration, Teacher,
I, will gift you with the following words:
“May your compassion shine across the Three Realms,
Delivering all sentient beings and awakening their Buddha-nature;
With wisdom and mercy reaching everywhere,
May you enlighten the multitudes and fulfill your great vows.”
